A doctor detained by Police in Hidalgo died in the municipal gallery, where she was sent

Dr. Beatriz Hernández Ruiz, 29, died inside the galley of the municipal presidency of Progreso de Obregón, Hidalgo, where she was referred after state police detained her.

According to the reports, the graduate of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) participated in a road accident, for which the officers, with the luxury of violence, apprehended her and transferred her without justifying the reason to her family.

The weekly Process stated that 15 minutes before confirming Beatriz’s death, her father could see her and asked him to get her out of there.

Upon leaving the scene, he investigated the reasons for his transfer, but when she came back she was already lying on the floor, surrounded by municipal personnel who tried to practice first aid on the woman.

Through a statement, the Municipal Government of Progreso de Obregón indicated that Beatriz Hernández presented “physical characteristics attributable to substance use” and committed suicide within the primary detention area hanging “with an object around the neck.”

According to his version, the officials tried to act to avoid further injuries. She was transferred to the nearest hospital, where, upon arrival, it was reported that he no longer had vital signs.

“The Municipal Government extends its sincere condolences to the loss that occurred and ratifies its commitment to collaborate with the competent authorities to clarify the facts,” the official document reads.

In this sense, The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Hidalgo (PGJEH) will investigate this fact under the protocol of femicide, given the circumstances in which it was developed, the testimony of his father and the evidence they have had so far.

Relatives, friends and feminist groups organized mobilizations to demand justice.

Through social networks, Emmanuel Aldo Hernández Ruiz, who identified himself as Beatriz’s brother, called for a protest with the state attorney’s office to demand justice for this event.

“We are about to leave for the Pachuca attorney’s office if someone likes to join our cause and cause of a femicide that concerns us all you’ll be welcome. BETY SISTER YOU ARE NOT ALONE ”, he wrote from his Facebook profile around 2:00 pm.

In addition, feminist collectives also joined the demonstrations and assured that there would be two demonstrations.

The first was at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, from railings from Progreso to the municipal garden; and the second will take place this Friday, June 11, at 4:00 p.m., in front of the Municipal Palace of Progreso de Obregón.

With the hashtag #JusticiaParaLaDraBety they send messages of solidarity and support for their relatives, as well as of repudiation against the authorities for the way in which they treated death as suicide.
