The work plan begins at the Retiro

The government of the city of Buenos Aires carried out a mega-operation in the early hours of this Saturday to evict the manteros and implement an improvement plan around the Retiro station.

This weekend, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires started a public space redevelopment work plan in the neighborhood of Buenos Aires Withdrawal, with the aim of improving the circulation of the 200,000 people who move daily in the lively district. During the execution of the tasks, the location of a total of seven bus and taxi stations will be temporarily changed.

This is a joint effort between the Ministries of Security, Public Space and Urban Hygiene and Ministry of Transport and Public Works of the city, who seeks recover and maintain the neighborhood environment.

In this way they will have intervened 4,500 square meters of sidewalks, in which a peripheral fence has already been placed, and the stops of the transfer center will be improved with the electrical installation and the adjustment of the furniture. In addition, the railings will be repaired and the structures of the Avenida Antártida walkway will be painted.

Also, the lighting of the area will be reinforced with installations 100% LED and work will be carried out on pedestrian lighting in the existing columns on the Liberator Avenue (on the sidewalk of the railway line), where patching and horizontal delimitation work will be carried out on the sidewalks.

In the Ramos Mejia Avenuethe double luminaries of the central basins will be replaced by trefoils with 4 lighting devices in columns of 9 meters, and it will be carried out a specific hygiene plan: The collection service will be doubled, the containers will be moved and there will be hydrowashing tasks on the sidewalks and roads. Likewise, the road and all the horizontal demarcation of the track will be repaved over 9 blocks.

To this work is added the intervention of the canada square and its surroundings, with the supply and installation of a total of 6,000 m2 of grass, the replacement of trees (37 banana trees, 17 tipas and 23 jacarandas), the replacement of plants (550 foxtails), the works leveling, stone granza replacement and green landscaped embankment. Even the replacement and maintenance of newspaper and flower stalls throughout the neighborhood that are not in good condition will be carried out.

As detailed by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, before starting the works, cleaning and unblocking works were carried out throughout the pluviocalacal zone of the neighborhood.

While the works are in progress, taxi ranks and bus stations 28, 70, 75, 92, 100, 101 there 150 they will be transferred. As such, so that pedestrians can circulate safely, they will be affected two ways along Ramos Mejía Avenue and only the side accesses of the San Martín and Belgrano Norte railways will remain active, since the Miter line has temporarily reduced its route and does not reach the Retiro station.

Simultaneously, more than 50 freight forwarders They will be present at four different locations to control the circulation of vehicles: they will be in the street from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the company of 28 awareness, responsible for informing passers-by. And once the work is completed, there will be a greater presence of security forces in the area.

The work is part of the Global transshipment center improvement planwhich are intended improve the travel experience of more than one million passengers and which also takes place in the important traffic points located in Constitution, Liniers and Saenz.
