With this form of online deception, criminals manage to gain access to private information that people keep on their mobile devices and thus, divert datasocial media accounts, or even, blackmail people with the intimate content of their electronic devices.

In order to deceive Internet users, criminals take advantage of means such as emails or messages in instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp or Telegram to send links that pretend to be messages on price who are waiting for claims, sweepstakes or discounts to fill out forms.

But in many cases the deception doesn’t end there, as the criminals may request that the link be shared with other users so they can collect the prize or cynically request that it be sent to more of contacts so that they also have the chance to win.

To prevent your information from being stolen by criminals, security experts recommend that you do not open any type of link that you think is suspicious, even if it is sent by a contact you have saved on your mobile phone, because a virus could attempt to replicate the link data without the user’s consent.

You must also take into account that if the link arrives in an SMS type message SMS from a common number such as +57 123 456 7890, or by e-mail with domains such as @gmail.com, @outlook.com, @yahoo.com, you must refrain from clicking on the link.

If you are sure of the veracity of the link, you can use tools such as Safe Webfrom Norton antivirus, which allows you to analyze the link and, in case it is not safe, the tool will tell you what type of threat it can find in the link, whether it is a “virus”, ” phishing” and “Spyware”.
