Interview with Peter Lanzani 24 hours after the Oscars

In Hollywood there is less and less time left for the Oscars, and in Argentina they live with an effusion rarely seen. The national cinema is faced with the possibility of winning its third statuette and Argentina 1985 seeks to place his name next to The official story (1986) y The secret of his eyes (2010) and there are plenty of reasons to get excited. The movie of Santiago Mitre, just reaped awards and accolades in an adventure that began six months ago and is hours away from ending in the Dolby Theater, this Sunday from 22 argentina time.

Some of them express the face of Pierre Lanzani, who played the prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo in the film that depicts the trial of the military juntas of the last dictatorship. The actor received GlobeLiveMedia at the press cocktail party held in the Boxwood Ballroom at the London West Hollywood Hotel, Beverly Hills. The national delegation was present, led by Santiago Mitre, accompanied by his companion, Dolores Fonzi; the protagonist Ricardo Darinnext to Florence Stockings and the producers Axel Kuschevatzky, Victoria Alonso and Cindy Teperman.

Like his teammates, Peter seemed happy, relaxed, even with typical competition nerves and even more so as a historic event approached. You seek to enjoy the moment in a feeling very similar to happiness. Accompanied by his manager Javier Braierhe sat down for a few minutes to recount his experiences, doing his utmost and his impossible to put into words all that he felt in his body.

“It’s a mixture of feelings, we are very happy, we have traveled for a long time to arrive at this moment which fortunately has been given to us”, said the actor with a big smile. “We are very grateful and lucky to know that we have the opportunity to be here, so to enjoy it with friends and to do programs, filling us with anecdotes which in the end are a compilation of that “, he added.

— Do you feel proud today to be Argentinian and to represent our country here?

—Totally, yes, we are very proud to be able to represent our country with a film that identifies us very much and that was a whirlwind of emotions to shoot, and also to see what was happening in the world at festivals or awards that we had, the feedback from people was so amazing and people around the world so proud.

— What would you like to say to all the Argentinians who are waiting with this world media armed with film?

“We know the same is happening in Argentina, so we’ll show our face then, because our job, which is to make the film, is already done. We have seen what has happened in our country and everywhere, so let’s see what is happening.

— Was it difficult to compose Luis Moreno Ocampo, who at the time of the trial was the same age as you?

“He was the same age as me, yes. Well, yes, like any project, always try to confront a character and try to find his sensitivity, his emotional arc, his strength… The truth is that Santiago Miter is an impressive team captain, with Ricardo too; He’s generous, he’s a very, very nice person, and very professional, so we all kind of found him. The principle wasn’t to copy or make exactly with the information that we had on Luis, but to guide us more in the scenario and to make our interpretation of this person, which freed us a lot and I think it was very successful. better understand what happened rather than trying to copy or do exactly what we can hear or see from what we knew about Luis.

“Do you feel like this role came to you because you said no to a lot of roles that stereotyped you as a leading man?

— (reflects) No, it seems to me that it came very authentically from Santi who had seen my work, I had seen his. The first time we met, we were in Paris, he was filming Little Flower y I was in Barcelona doing the series of Maradona, blessed dream. I went to visit friends in Paris and in a very authentic way, trusting how powerful the story is and how difficult the challenge was, it just happened. After all everyone always puts nicknames, they like it more or less, I think that’s what’s nice too, there are people who can really like my work and there are people who don’t everything, and I think that’s what it is too, right?? It is very difficult to be able to charm everyone.
