Living and working in France: who are the Argentines who can apply and what are the conditions to obtain a one-year visa

The program “Visa Holidays and work” (VVT) In France is valid for citizens Argentinians, Australians and Colombians residing in Argentina. It is an initiative similar to the programs of “Business tripwhich allows young people aged 18 to 35 to reside for a year in the European country and to obtain temporary jobs during this stay.

VVT appointments must be requested online. If none appear, the available shifts have already been booked. New shifts are posted regularly. Otherwise, this means that there are still places available and that the person concerned will have to try to make another round.

Colombian and Australian citizens can apply for a VVT visa at the French consulate only if they reside in Argentina and if the VVT ​​program is open in their country. In addition, your request must be approved by the French Consulate in your country of origin.

An important detail to keep in mind is to do nothing by halves. Visa application files must be complete as indicated on the consulate page. An application submitted with missing documents will be rejected without exception.

Thanks to the agreement signed between the French and Argentinian governments in February 2011, the “Vacation and Work Program” allows young people aged 18 to 35 from both countries to stay on the territory of the other State for 12 months.

The visa is free and allows you to travel individually (without responsible person) and independently (without being responsible for anyone), with the aim of spending your holidays, being able to obtain temporary employment and to support yourself financially.

Argentines and Australians residing in Argentina can apply for the visa corresponding to the “work and vacation” program between the ages of 18 and the day before their 36th birthday.

Colombian citizens residing in Argentina can apply for the “work and vacation” visa (until the last day before their 31st birthday) within the limits of the quotas agreed between the French and Colombian governments.

Nationals of other countries with which there is a bilateral “holiday and work” agreement must request this visa from the French consulate in their country of origin.

The organizers recommend not to take hasty decisions such as giving up studies or jobs, until you have received confirmation of the granting of the visa by the Consulate General of France in Buenos Aires.

Argentinians, Australians and Colombians residing in Argentina must apply for the VVT ​​visa at the Consulate General of France in Buenos Aires.

The time to obtain it is approximately 15 working days.

The visa begins to run from the beneficiary’s flight date. During this period, you can enter and leave France whenever you wish within the validity period of the visa.

You will not be able to obtain a permanent job, but there are no restrictions in terms of the type of contracts or sectors of activity.

The stay cannot be extended after the expiry date of the visa, nor its status changed.

The visa is granted only once.

The “work and holiday” visa does not affect the right of the person concerned to stay as a tourist for up to 90 days per period of 180 days in the other countries of the Schengen area without a visa.

Candidates must present themselves, by appointment, between three months and two weeks before the date of the trip to France.

List of visa application requirements:

Passport issued less than 10 years ago and valid until at least three months after the scheduled return date, including at least two blank pages + copy (of the page with photo),

“Long Stay” Visa Application Form (PDF-16Ko) completed and signed,

2 photos according to international standards:

Signed handwritten letter explaining the reasons for your trip (in French or Spanish),

Criminal record (less than 3 months, legalization or certification is not necessary),

A medical insurance that covers the risks related to illness, maternity, disability and hospitalization for 365 days for a minimum amount of 30,000 euros,

Medical health certificate, issued by a public or private hospital, issued no later than 15 days before the date of the shift,

Accommodation: Hotel reservation or proof that another person residing in France is in charge of accommodation, or rental contract,

Proof of economic solvency of at least 2,500 euros or its equivalent in Argentine pesos or foreign currencies dating less than fifteen days from the date of presentation:

Savings bank statement (own account or co-ownership with father or mother) and copy of international credit or debit card,

Fixed-term certificate with free availability of funds on the date of the trip.
