Jujuy: Two tourists and a guide found dead at the bottom of a ravine

This Tuesday afternoon, the Font Jujuy found the dead bodies of a tourist couple and a local guide who were intensely wanted after the complaint of a rollover of the truck in which they were traveling along Provincial Route 83, near the city of San Francisco.

The three people had left last Sunday to visit different places in the region. It was the tour guide’s son who ended up alerting the authorities that his father had not returned home after going out for the tour. That same day, a accident at the Río Jordán tourist hostel, about 10 kilometers from the aforementioned town in the region of Valles de Altura Jujeños.

In this context, an operation was launched by the regional unit 4 of the Libertador General San Martín and the firefighters of the province, which the baqueanos joined, to find the vehicle, a Ford Ranger truck, in which the three occupants were traveling , the condition of which is unknown at this time.

In the early hours of Monday, police found at the scene of the accident that there were traces of a vehicle which had plunged into a large precipice.

Yesterday afternoon, after intense hours of search, the police confirmed the discovery of three dead people in the vehicle they were traveling in which fell more than 150 meters and was completely submerged in a water well of about six meters deep. The rescue corps made up of security personnel and firefighters had to descend this height to reach the corpses which will be transferred in the next few hours.

The deceased tourists are a couple from the province of Buenos Aires. Adriana Paniagua34 years old, living in Laferrère, and Sebastien Vain, 32, residing in Valentín Gómez, had been staying in San Francisco since Saturday. His relatives had already been made aware of what had happened, reported The Tribune. For his part, the guide was identified as Santos Jesús Cruz, 60, from the aforementioned city.

The reasons for what happened are currently under investigation, although police authorities have indicated that at the time of the accident it was raining, which they believe was the cause of the accident. Fatal accident, provincial road 83 being a winding road through a mountain jungle area.

At the beginning of February, another accident that occurred on vacation had a fatal outcome. A 41-year-old woman who had gone on vacation in the province of Tucumán was found dead near the Los Sosa River. The victim, identified as Daniela Maria Avenawas wanted for a few days after she fell in the water after trying to take a photo.

Avena’s body was found at kilometer 22 of Provincial Road 307 in an area known as Piedras Coloradas, about 400 meters from where he was last seen. The search was carried out by volunteer firefighters from the city of Tucuman de Monteros, personnel from the Infantry Guard, officers from the Special Rescue and Operations Corps (CERO) and the Lake Police.

According to testimonies of relatives, the woman had climbed a stone at the edge of the river to remove a selfie, until it slips. Loss of equilibrium fell into the river and was swept away by a strong current.
