Peruvian tennis player Jean Paul Varillas beat italian Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals of Argentina Open of Buenos Aires and qualified for the semi-finals of the APT 250 tournament.

Varillas (101st in the ATP rankings) kicked off the Argentine Open after beating Mussetti (20th) with a 6-4 brace in 1h47 of play.

The 27-year-old Peruvian will seek his pass for the final of the tournament against British tennis player Cameron Norrie (12th in the ATP ranking). They will meet for the first time on the circuit.

In the duel against Musseti, he imposed his game against the favorite and specialist in brick dust. He won 77% of the points and scored two decisive breaks on the main court at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
