After months of rumors and speculation, it looks like the sequel to crazy friday (terrible friday), with Lindsay Lohan in 2003, is becoming more and more possible. Although the official announcement has yet to be made, a meeting between Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis seems to confirm the news.
In a recent interview that Variety had with Lee Curtis during the latest episode of the Producers Guild Awards, the actress explained that the film “It’s going to happen,” she said. “Without saying anything is officially happening, I’m looking at you right now and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’ Is going to happen”.

Just two weeks ago, via her social media, Jamie shared an image of herself with Lindsay Lohan and under the snapshot the phrase “It’s Friday. I only say! Fingers crossed!” This raised suspicions among fans of the 2003 film that they might meet to discuss the second part of the hit film, which seems confirmed by comments recently made by Curtis.
In this post from Jamie, Lohan commented with crossed fingers emoticons, a smiley face with heart-shaped eyes, and two raised hands. A few months ago, at the Los Angeles premiere of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Last November, Curtis said, “There’s no set date, but we’re talking. People are talking. Good people talk.”
Alexis Floyd, the actress of “Inventando a Anna”, alone with GlobeLiveMedia for her arrival in “Grey’s Anatomy” in season 19
The famous actress returned to television to make her mark as Simone Griffin, new first-year resident at Gray Sloan Memorial and spoke over the phone to elaborate on her expectations, desires and the big challenge of joining a hit.
In these statements, Jamie explained that: “I’m 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36. A sequel seems right, we’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours. The movie just Disney and I think they’re interested in doing it and we’re talking about it.”
According TMZ, it seems that Lindsay Lohan also pushed for this second part to happen. Sources close to the actress told the site that she “is very interested” in continuing to tell the story she made with Jamie nearly two decades ago and although there is still no no response from the entertainment company, perhaps the fact that the two star filmmakers want to participate, get the project cleared.
crazy friday is based on the 1972 novel of the same name written by Mary Rodgers and tells the story of a mother and daughter who mysteriously switch bodies via a Chinese fortune cookie and are forced to deal with each other’s problems under a whole new point of view.
The 2003 version was the third adaptation of disney (one of them was the one directed by Jodie Foster in 1976), but Lindsay and Curtis’ version is undoubtedly the most accomplished and has managed to become a cult film over the years. At the time, the feature film was also a massive box office success, grossing over $160 million and garnering rave reviews from critics. On the site rotten tomatoes maintains an 88% approval rating.
If this project comes to fruition, the eventual film would join an ever-growing list of sequels made decades after the previous version, as was the case with Abracadabra 2, Top Gun Maverick It’s included Halloween from 2018 which was a direct sequel to the 1978 film directed by John Charpentier.
You can see crazy friday through the Disney+ platform.
