The head of the Hamas Political Bureau said Wednesday that US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett do not accept any political solution to the Palestinian issue. “Even,” Ismail Haniyeh added, “if it is a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.”
Haniyeh made her comment during an interview with Turkish channel A Haber . Neither Biden nor Bennett, the Hamas leader said, will change the reality of the Israeli occupation. “The Israeli occupation government continues with the policy of land usurpation and violation of the rights of Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.”
There will be no change in US policy toward Israel “because of their mutual interests,” he said.
Asked about the peace agreements reached with the Arab states, Haniyeh said that the Palestinians feel sorry for this rapprochement between the Israeli occupation and these countries. “Some of the Arab regimes believe that their existence is linked to the support of the United States, and that the road to the United States passes through Tel Aviv. However, this is not the reality.”
Currently, six Arab countries have normalized their relations with Israel, despite the fact that it does not respect human rights and continues its violations against the Palestinians on a daily basis. However, Haniyeh explained, a “normalized” relationship with Arab regimes does not mean that the Arab people are happy with Israel and its brutal military occupation.
