“The modification of the tariff schedule was discussed and approved during the public hearing held on February 3, with the aim of continuing to guarantee the maintenance and proper functioning of the service, and in accordance with the tariff update implemented by the national government for the rest of the year Public transport AMBA “, they pointed out from the Buenos Aires company.
“Apart from the search for a balance between the ticket of the different means of transport, the update responds to the variation of the technical tariff – which reflects the cost of operating the service and consists of the ratio between said costs and the number of passengers paid – and there is a need to ensure the smooth running of the metro, keeping the public transport system sustainable,” they added.
According to the company, these costs have increased by 58% from October 2022 and since the new tariff will only come into effect now, with passenger demand stabilized at 70% of the pre-pandemic total, the update will allow to reduce the subsidy. , which at the moment is well above the historical average (86% against 60%).
However, they indicated that the RED SUBE discount and frequent flyer benefit will remain in effect. Thus, the more the user travels, discounts of 20%, 30% and 40% are automatically applied as soon as he exceeds respectively 20, 30 or 40 monthly journeys.
In addition, the passes for pensioners and pensioners, and for the disabled, for those with a transplant and on the waiting list -all can travel for free-, the student ticket -which is also free-, and the social , teacher and student, for secondary and higher education students.
The social payment is intended for beneficiaries of social plans managed by the government of the city of Buenos Aires, of the Ciudadanía Porteña program; beneficiaries of the Heads of Household Plan; people in a situation of chronic or recurrent unemployment; people with a family income below the basic family basket published by INDEC; people who prove that they are in a situation of indigence; Cromañón Tragedy Grant recipients; Falklands ex-combatants; groups identified by the current regulations of the city of Buenos Aires with special needs or in a situation of great social vulnerability.
