The expression let’s see not to be confused with the infinitive to have. There is a certain tendency to confuse the expression voir, formed by the preposition a and the infinitive of the verb voir, with the infinitive of Haber.

A worm is used to ask the interlocutor see or check something (in interrogative mode): “─I have a gift ─We’ll see? » ; to express an expectation or interest in knowing somethingusually followed by a indirect interrogative: “Let’s see how things go at work next month” ; Attract someone’s attention before asking, soliciting or ordering something: “Let’s see, circulate”; expressing acceptance of something considered inevitable: “─Do you pay taxes? ─Let’s see! », and express a curiosity, an expectation or an interest, sometimes in the form of a challenge (followed by a sentence introduced by the conjunction if): « Let’s see if this year we win the lottery », « Let’s see if you dare ».

Founded in Madrid in 1713 on the initiative of the eighth Marquess of Villena, Juan Manuel Fernández Pacheco y Zúñiga, the RAE is the institution that seeks to preserve the proper use and unity of a language constantly evolving and expanding.

Its most recent statutes (updated in 1993) establish that the principal function of the Royal Academy is “to ensure that the Spanish language, in its continuous adaptation to the needs of the speakers, does not break its essential unity”.

This commitment has materialized in the so-called Pan-Hispanic language policy, shared with the other 22 companies which are part of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language (ASALE), created in Mexico in 1951.

Currently, the institution is made up of 46 academics, including the director and other board positions, elected for temporary terms.

The information contained in the Observatory is provisional because it is not included in academic work, so it can be modified and evolve over time, but this does not imply that its use is accepted.
