UNITED STATES It has faced a serious problem of police brutality for many decades, and among some of the events that have most outraged North Americans are racial attacks on people of African descent.

Even the problem is so current that the President Joe Biden, in January 2023, he was outraged after a series of videos emerged where Memphis police beat the African American Nichols tire and whose injuries caused his death.

Faced with this complex panorama, the renowned actor, Jason Beghé speak with GlobeLiveMedia Mexico about his starring role in the NBC series titled Chicago PD and how bringing the character of Sergeant Hank Voight to life over multiple seasons left him with big thoughts both personally and socially.

“Because a crime drama has so much action, there’s a scene where you sneak into a building, hide in a corner, draw your gun, hthere is a person threatening to shoot you, You have to communicate with your team to ask for help, which is my favorite thing to do because I love doing this job,” he said, adding:

It’s very exciting to see the action as an actor, but it’s much more exciting to play it.

However, for this series to revolve around the Chicago Windy Cities Police Department and focus on the police elements and intelligence unit that pursue the city’s criminals, hleft a rough reflection on the current context of the United States at the artist.

In this sense, Beghe looked at the police brutality that exists in the North American country and pointed out that, with his actions in Chicago PD seeks to stimulate public reflection.

“It’s something that has affected the way we approach the show very personally, because it’s a present-day policing program and the United States Police Department is currently in a time where it has to put some important points on the tablethere are some things to be careful about and it is something that is difficult to understand from the outside and to correct,” he said.

Likewise, Jason remarked that with this hit series, he hoped to have a positive impact, beyond encouraging bad practices by police elements.

“I hope our program can be part of the solution, I really don’t wanna be part of the problem“, he rescued.

Regarding his character, Sergeant Hank Voight, Beghe said that after playing him for many years, he feels very connected to him.

“Having played this character for so long, I can get into his thoughts and make a scene and instead of planning what happensI can guess what will happen and it’s exciting and fun. I think on a good day, I totally relate to that, it’s also my job and it’s a really fun thing to do as an actor,” he explained.

Recall that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Beghe spoke to this media about the difficulties of registration in the face of a health emergency like the one that has hit the world.

“It was our turn in the middle of the eighth season. It’s been different since we had to arrive very early so we could get tested for COVID-19 every dayThey didn’t let a lot of people congregate at the venue and that made the check-ins lengthy. It was not going to be possible to record so many episodes in this season because each episode is long,” he said at the time.

The new season of Chicago PD airs every Monday starting at 10:40 p.m. on Universal TV.
