From 2021 to 2022, the number of cases has increased sharply.

Physical and psychological aggression at school, also called intimidationIt is a problem that children and adolescents face daily and often goes unreported. These can leave consequences in the future and before this happens it is best to report them to the corresponding authorities, in this case the Portal SiSeVe of the Ministry of National Education (Minedu).

As we might know, this web platform received nearly 2,500 complaints between March and November 2022, so it is understood that there are at least 6 cases per day per year. In addition, from September 2013 to the end of 2022, 49,300 cases of school attacks were recorded.

Worryingly, up to April 2022, the number of cases (874) had already exceeded those of 2021. Of this total number of complaints, 163 were of a sexual nature, which includes inappropriate touching, harassment, sexually charged comments, or rape. .

So far this year, more than 7,000 bullying cases have been reported through the SíseVe portal. (Andean)

322 other complaints were of a psychological nature, such as threats or teasing; while 389 were physical assaultsso they did not cause injury. On the other hand, it has been recorded that almost half of the alleged abusers are teachers and administrators (384); while the others are schoolchildren (490).

Now, educational institutions are required to address any instances of harassment and activate corresponding protocols, such as starting a follow-up. If they do not comply with the provisions, they may be sanctioned, in accordance with the law, by fines. Like the recent sanction applied by the Consumer Protection Commission No. 3 of the indecopi to Lima Villa College (Chorrillos) for not having acted correctly in a case of bullying (50 ITU, 247,500 soles).

According to Law No. 29719which promotes coexistence without violence in educational institutions, published on June 25, 2011, expressly prohibits bullying between students, which causes violence and results in victims.

The regulation aims to establish mechanisms to diagnose, prevent, avoid, punish and eradicate violence, harassment, bullying and any act considered bullying among students in educational institutions. In addition, it requires schools to appointment of at least one psychology professionalwho will be responsible for preventing and dealing with cases of harassment and violence between students.
