On Monday afternoon, the province of Jujuy announced an audiovisual plan aimed at promoting local and international productions through a series of programs that promote the development of the industry in the region. The initiative presented yesterday adds to the growth of the sector in a province that in recent years has set up and promoted different resources such as the Jujuy Film Commission or the Festival de las Alturas, which this year will have its ninth edition .

The Jujuy audiovisual plan is made up of a first part with 15 competitive lines for the production of content, project development bodies, grants and subsidies for filmmakers and local projects, to which half of the budget provided for in the plan. The second component is a Cash Rebate program, a reimbursement system for national and international productions filming in the province of Jujuy.

Governor Gerard Morales He expressed satisfaction with the program design of the plan and said it “will enable the audiovisual industry to develop much more vigorously.” Accompanied by the directors of the Jujuy Audiovisual Arts Institute (IAAJ) of the cultural city of San Salvador where the project was presented, he also pointed out that there is an exponential growth in productions with specific institutional support.

Morales It has also been considering the creation of an investment promotion scheme that offers income tax refund benefits, which will be added as a complement to the announced audiovisual plan. In the case of the Cash Rebate program included in the project, it will allow a reimbursement of 20% of the expenses actually made in the province (with a ceiling of 10 million pesos per project) for national and international shootings that take place in the province in the year 2023, provided that they make a minimum investment of 25 million pesos.

The first edition of the Cash Rebate program has a budget of 100 million pesos, which will have an impact not only on the local audiovisual industry and job creation, but also on associated sectors such as gastronomy, l hospitality and tourism. .

Local productions, for their part, will benefit from the first part of the audiovisual plan, which includes – among other things – competitions for first feature films; Co-production of fiction feature films; Documentary miniseries; Documentary feature film; short fiction films; and animated shorts. The development of fiction feature film projects, digital content for platforms and projects made with new technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, 360) will also be stimulated. On the other hand, subsidies will be allocated for local filming, cinemas, and for the participation of local filmmakers in festivals and audiovisual markets.

Jujuy’s audiovisual sector has experienced strong growth in recent years, which has been reflected in institutional advances and public policies, through the sanction of the provincial audiovisual law and the recent creation of the Institute of audiovisual arts, which aim to position Jujuy as a pole of audiovisual production. . From March 6, registrations will be activated for certain lines of the Local Development Plan, as well as for the cashback program.
