Last week, as part of an investigation that has lasted more than ten months, the La Plata DDI of the Buenos Aires Police raided the “La Idéale” confectionery, located at diagonal 73 and 64th streets in the same city, and arrested to its owner, SDM, 46 years. There tax woman Lacki accused him of an aberrant crime: aggravated sexual abuse of several of its employees. The situation came to light last year, following the complaint filed by a cleaning lady who, since joining the company in 2019, has been the victim of repeated attacks during her working hours.
Sophie Caraveloslawyer for the victim who, after three years of suffering, decided to go public with her powerful story, spoke with GlobeLiveMedia and provided details of the defendant’s modus operandi. During her testimony, the lawyer explained that the alleged attacker took advantage of the trade’s “blind spots” —where the security cameras are not filming—to abuse the victim he represents.
“In the bakery, there were security cameras but they did not reach certain places, such as the sandwich shop and the toilets. It was customary for him to greet her when she arrived and then pass by a place where she was cleaning and he touched her. He told her what happened to him, without a filter,” Caravelos said. Furthermore, he clarified that the defendant “I had hidden prophylactics and intimate gels in the holes where the dichroic lamps go” Trade.

The lawyer recounted one particular incident, which happened after two years inside the bakery. Caravelos assured that the accused “he locked his client in the bathroom “and tried to pull down his pants”. “She screamed and scratched him, she couldn’t take it anymore, she took her things and left. On the way down, she took off her apron, looked at one of the security cameras, nodded. kiss my ass -with his middle finger- and he left”, he explained. He then decided to file a complaint against him.
Despite repeated trial and error at her workplace, the young woman needed the money and the next day she showed up to try to talk to her boss. But that was not possible: the same man who had assaulted her refused her entry to the store and she it was considered rejected.
Afraid of exposing the torment she had lived through for so long, the victim waited three years to tell her story. Coincidentally, he did 8m —International Women’s Day— last year, through a post on her Instagram account. This publication motivated other workers and former employees of the “La Idéale” bakery to contact her to show their solidarity and tell her about the aberrant episodes of abuse they had suffered with their employer.
Armed with unpublished and revealing testimonies from other victims, SFR contacted Dr. Caravelos because it needed advice before filing a complaint against the attacker. “I was afraid to denounce for fear of reprisals. He’s a rich man from La Plata. (To the victims) He told them “you do what you want”. They laughed at them,” the lawyer said.

Four SDM victims testified against him. All recounted their own experiences, while two of them asked to remain anonymous. The list of victims could grow in the coming days. “I have two others who have now contacted the complainant,” Caravelo said.
This Saturday, the baker continued to be detained while prosecutor Lacki waited to receive new testimonies from victims and analysis of the baker’s iPhone, kidnapped during the raid. Security camera recordings were also seized.
