Heat wave: a school in Rosario asked its students to wear mesh and cooled them with hoses

In the midst of a constant heat wave, the colleges They are looking for different ways to cope with high temperatures while fulfilling their daily obligations. Thus, in an attempt not to interrupt classes, a school of Rosario he asked his students to attend the mesh institution and they even refreshed them with pipes.

Unlike other establishments where due to lack of fans or air conditioners they choose to suspend classes, it was the school’s decision Francisco Guruchaga, located in Salta at 3400, which had a striking idea for children to enjoy the day while continuing the school year. “The idea was born to be able to transform a little time at school into a moment of freshness, without interrupting the school day. For us, it is essential to ensure permanence”, explained Mariana Sánchez, director of the primary school, to Cadena 3.

However, the striking proposal is not new to the school, since the previous days they had asked students not to go to class in uniform, as it does not help in this context of extreme temperatures.

In turn, the director explained how the dynamics of the day were and how they used the space to refresh the students: “It occurred to us to place a garden hose in the square so that the boys can get their heads wet. Water is a resource to take care of, it is not a resource to play with. We ask you to bring a net and a towel. They can come into mesh and cause everything to change. They will play with pipes at recess, as a group. They go out in a group and they are going to get wet. There is air conditioning, but they cannot be turned on due to low voltage”.

In addition, in order for the students to have a better understanding of the situation, the teachers explain the phenomena that lead to the production of these high temperatures. “It leads to working in the classrooms on what has to do with global warming, taking care of water and air conditioning, which we cannot use due to tension problems,” Sánchez said. .

The day before, the establishment had informed the parents of how the school was preparing to carry out the pedagogical day and how they planned to fight against the high temperatures: “The school must adapt to the context, prioritize the well-being of our students without interrupting the dictation of the classes; In this way, they will be able to refresh themselves and make school more pleasant,” the school Francisco Gurruchaga informed the parents.

According to local media, the establishment expanded the information with the following message: “Given the impossibility of having the use of air conditioners due to a low voltage problem that exceeds our establishment (…) And given the heat wave and the yellow alert that we are going through, we have decided that students from the first to the seventh who wish to do so, will be able to attend classes with a leotard, flip-flops, a towel and an additional spare outfit. , since recreation will take place in the square in the shade and with a hose”.

The position of the Francisco Gurruchaga school opposes the request of part of the union of public teachers of the province of Santa Fe, which calls for the suspension of classes due to high temperatures.

Currently, the city of Santa Fe is under red alert due to high temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. According to forecasts, the city will experience its worst day this Tuesday when highs will reach 35 degrees. Relief would only come at the end of the week with a day that will have a minimum of 17°C and a maximum of 31°C.
