Gustavo Petro during the dialogue with the Community Action Committees of Norte de Santander. (Presidency)

President Gustavo Petro participated on Thursday, February 16 in a dialogue with the Community Action Councils (JAC) in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. During the meeting, the Head of State denounced that officials were supporting illegal trade on the Colombia-Venezuela border.

“There are some heads of state institutions who believe that a president speaks and he can be heard but he does not pay attention,” the president said, “and the same goes on as if nothing had happened”. Following this, he stressed that this is the second time that he has denounced that certain public officials favor the passage of trucks on the trails to earn money.

“There are civil servants, Colombians and Venezuelans, who win a ticket with transport, freight, illegal trade,” he added.
