A man was seriously injured on Tuesday after several police officers shot him for pouncing on them with a knife at a Paris train station, local media reported.
The incident occurred around midnight, in the Saint-Lazare station (northwest of Paris), when four railway security officers drew attention to a man who was not wearing a mask.
The man got angry and started running towards them with a knife in his hand and shouting radical Islamic shouts, so the agents carried out multiple shots. “’Allahu Akbar’ (Allah is great). France is run by the Islamic State” he yelled, according to the media The Parisian.
“The two officers used their service weapons to defend and neutralize it.” Said the press service of the SNCF (state railway company).
The man, who is hospitalized in very serious condition, has a history of common crimes but he is not listed as an Islamic radical, depending on the channel BFM TV, who added that the Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office is studying whether to take up the case.
“The prognosis for the life of the accused is compromised after the two shots fired by the agents”Said the Paris prosecutor’s office.
