In Paris, the minister Arthur Moon signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France, the objective of the agreement is to support research carried out by recognized institutes in the hands of the countries.

Its most recent action was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the CNRS, which will encourage policies, cooperation networks, the expansion of biodiversity studies, knowledge transfer and strategies around open science.

On behalf of the CNRS, the signatory was Antoine Petit, president of the entity, a position he has held since 2018, among the witnesses was the prize Nobel Prize in Physics Serge Haroche, who is also a member of the committee of wise men, after the signing, the technical teams were formed, responsible for implementing the agreement.

It was not the only meeting that led the science ministerin this country, he also met Colombian scientiststo whom I spoke about the need to consolidate a Colombian science diplomacy strategy, said during the meeting:

“There is a lot to do and we need the support of scientists. It is not about everyone returning to Colombia, because it is also very important that there are Colombians in other parts of the world, leaving the name of our country high”.

He mentioned the need for a bilateral agenda with this official, stressing the importance of building, with the support of the Unescoan Artificial Intelligence policy in Colombia within the framework of discussions on ethics in this field.

“Artificial intelligence serves as a tool to preserve the indigenous languages ​​of the country which are in danger of disappearing. It is the use of technology to preserve the culture and identity of indigenous groups,” the minister said.

Finally, he met with delegates from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), including Andrew Wyckoff, Director for Science, Technology and Innovation, as well as the Chair of the Committee for Science and Technology Policy ( CSTP), Alessandra Collecchia. Who Luna asked:

The agreement was celebrated during the high-level tour carried out by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, led by its Minister, Arturo Luna, on the European continent and which had its first stop in Swiss.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Science, it was announced that:

“We have signed a very valuable ‘Declaration of Interest’, which aims to broaden the participation of Colombian scientists and universities, mainly regional, in the projects carried out at CERN.” Minister Luna also assured that they are willing to continue exploring a mobility program in collaboration with the organization for students of doctoral programs.
