Maximizing crop yields when the climatic context seems that it will not be optimal for the Argentine countryside in the coming months, becomes crucial in any approach that aims to be successful.

The high probability that the La Niña climate phenomenon will occur again this spring, which for our country means less rainfall than the historical average, means that the good use of the tools that the producer has is the difference between losing or win in this thick campaign that began to take its first steps.

State-of-the-art genetics, good nutrition and adequate crop health are factors to take into account, but, above all things, it is essential to have effective weed protection.

And that is why Summit Agro’s excellence in innovation, Japanese research and development makes Gemmit Top available to the Argentine producer, a herbicide formulated based on flumioxazin, which thanks to its micronization process -which decreased the particle size – It makes the use of the product more efficient, allowing effective weed control from the seed and enhancing crop yields.

“The company” has been working with flumioxazin for two decades and this trajectory with the active principle gives us a solid experience in terms of formulation and field knowledge, “explained Adrián Martínez Van Den Dooren, Marketing Manager of Summit Agro, a company belonging to to the Japanese group Sumitomo Corporation.

We managed to reduce the particle size even more to improve the specific contact surface, increasing the probability of contact of the weed seed with the active ingredient. Thus, the probability of success of the producer increases in terms of control, and there is a possible reduction in the number of applications in post-emergency “, said Martínez Van Den Dooren, for whom Summit Agro took the active flumioxazin to its maximum expression” Gemmit Top ”through a process of micronization of the molecule.

The herbicide works by performing a pre-emergent control of weeds, it is used for extensive crops such as soy, corn, wheat and sorghum; as well as vine, fruit and citrus. “The versatility of use of the product has positioned what is the Gemmit Top as a very chosen tool by the producer and versatile in terms of rotation”, highlighted the specialist.

Likewise, Martínez Van Den Dooren highlighted the success of this premium product, launched in July of this year due to the great adoption by the producer. Gemmit Top is distinguished from other flumioxazin on the market by the distribution and homogeneity of the active ingredient in the formulation, which translates into greater weed control efficacy in the field.

The product

Gemmit Top is a herbicide formulated based on 48% flumioxazin from the group of so-called PPOs (protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitors), which has excellent residuality in the soil and foliar control of some small broadleaf weeds as well as leaf species wide and in the suppression of grasses. Among the main species are the black branch, red yuyo, rye grass, cruciferous, among others.

“Today flumioxazin is positioned as one of the tools chosen by the producer to control weeds and keep their crops clean,” said Martínez Van Den Dooren. The product is also registered in other crops such as vine, stone fruit trees, sorghum, etc.

Likewise, the company highlights that Gemmit Top has a greater effective contact surface, with 84% more specific surface than a flumioxazin without micronization; superior stability in mixtures due to less precipitate of the active; and a better dispersion of the particles in the broth, with greater achievement of mixing and homogeneity in the tank.

Finally, it is worth noting that The product has a “low risk for the user and for the environment” since it is an ideal green band product for peri-urban applications.

Along the same lines, its low leaching potential and high adsorption to soil colloids allow “rain does not wash off the product, remaining active within the first centimeter of the soil. This characteristic differentiates it from other pre-emergent ones, even, the same mode of action ”, they affirmed from the company.
