They found a man’s body floating in Dock 2 (@buenosvecinosBA)

In addition to recent acts of insecurity in the city of Buenos Aires, with street shootings, murders, robberies and prisoner escapes, there is now a mystery: a man’s body was found floating in the river near Puerto Madero.

A call to 911 made at 7 a.m. alerted to the presence of the body and at least 10 agents of the Prefecture were working in the sector of the dike 2 to get it out of the water. This sector is bounded by the boulevards Rosario Vera Peñaloza and Azucena Villaflor.

Early assessments indicate that he was a 40-year-old man who had been submerged for approximately 48 hours in water due to its state of decomposition. He was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. He was without stockings and without slippers. At first glance, there were no injuries.

SAME staff and the scientific police also intervened on the scene. Around 11 a.m., the corpse was transferred to the judicial morgue for identification because it did not have the DNI on it.

The National Civil Court of First Instance No. 20, in charge of Dr. Analía Victoria Romero, intervenes in the case, which must determine whether it is a murder, an accident or a suicide; and determine if any of the security cameras in the area were able to record the event.

In January, Puerto Madero was also the scene of an unfortunate episode: a young man drowned when he jumped into the water to retrieve his accidentally dropped backpack in Dock 3.

The victim’s friend told officers that “they were talking next to the railing of the Villaflor bridge” when the 22-year-old boy’s backpack fell into the water.

“He climbed down a ladder on the side of the dam and jumped into the water to look for the backpack, but he disappeared from the surface, until the prefecture staff found the body dead,” did he declare.

The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office 54, in charge of Laura Belloqui, intervened in the event.
