Through a long statement published on the night of Thursday, February 16, the High Commissioner for Peace, Danilo Rueda, provided several details on the State’s policy of ‘full peace’ and reports of alleged offers of payments by drug traffickers to profit from this initiative.

The entity also pointed out that the lawyer does not have valid accreditation that certifies his representation of any of the armed groups that are part of the urban peace process in Medellín.
The official began by explaining that “President Petro’s peace was born from listening to the people who suffered the old violence and those that remain to be resolved in urban and rural territories” and that it is also part of the signing of the Final Peace Agreement between the Colombian State and the extinct FARC guerrillas, and the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report End of the truth commission.
In passing, he assured that after an initial process of six months of rapprochement with various illegal armed groups of different natures and learned of the scope of their desire for peace, both of this government initiative and of the work carried out by the entity , “we have witnessed a wave of obstruction and sabotage of our administration”.
