There Regional Directorate of Education Piura (DREP) in coordination with the Local Pedagogical Management Units (UGEL) postponed the start of classes in the Piura region in order to report the damage, safeguard the integrity of schoolchildren, teachers, etc.

He National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) reported that the city of Lima will experience rains due to the indirect influence of Cyclone Yaku, which has rocked the north of the country in recent days.

Diego Rodríguez, meteorologist Senamhi, explained and clarified that the climatic phenomenon will not enter the capital directly. However, due to the proximity that exists between the regions, Lima will present some changes over time.

“The cyclone is 500 or 600 kilometers from the coast; it will move south, but it will also move away. Do not think that the cyclone will enter our coasts, it will not happen, but we will feel its indirect influence in Lima,” said the specialist.

“The rains are generated in the mountains, in the middle basin, and from there they go towards the coast. Cyclone Yaku brings humidity, so it is an indirect influence; as there is more humidity, it contributes to accentuate the precipitation,” he added in his speech.

Ate, Santa Anita, Chaclacayo, Lurigancho, La Molina, Cieneguilla, San Luis, San Juan de Lurigancho (SJL), Chosica, El Agustino, will be some of the neighborhoods that suffer from the presence of the Cyclone Yaku.
