Huaico destroyed everything in its path

For Lima, this Tuesday March 14 will be a difficult day to erase due to the devastation caused by rainy produced indirectly by the Cyclone Yaku. In the Peruvian capital, at least 20 streams were activated and the result was violent huaicos who devastated everything in their path in neighborhoods such as Chaclacayo, Cieneguilla, Carabayllo, Comas, Ancón, Punta Hermosa among others.

Mobile phone cameras of the affected population and journalistic lens were used to record the damage caused by the huge mudslides to homes, schools, soccer fields, streets, parks and other structures. In most cases, people had no choice but to leave their homes and seek refuge in the highlands.

At the limit of Pachacamac with cieneguilla a ravine known as dry river. This caused the overflow lurin river, taking everything to meet him. Dozens of residences suffered the fury of nature and many families in the area were affected.

the neighborhood of Commas became one of the districts of the capital most affected by the rainfall forecast by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi). Another of Lima’s northern districts that has been hardest hit by the rainy this tuesday 14 was carabayllo. The situation worsened to such an extent that some people had to run out of their houses to take refuge in the heights and avoid being swept away by the strong current of mud.

After activating a flow in the Punta Hermosa neighborhood caused a large accumulation of earth, mud and water to fall across the main streets of the station to the mouth of the sea. Desperate residents placed sandbags in various places in the neighborhood; however, they could not stop the strong current of muddy water.

After confirming the activating the Los Laureles streamit was possible to observe how the water began to flood the streets and sidewalks of Chaclacayo, a fact that has alerted residents to install low walls to prevent water from entering their homes.
