Mexico has exceeded 240,000 deaths from coronavirus this Saturday by registering more than 1,200 deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours.

Specifically, Mexico has added 1,219 deaths that have raised the total number of deaths in the pandemic so far to 140,241.

In addition, 20,523 new coronavirus infections have been detected, bringing the number of people diagnosed with the disease to a total of 1,630,258.

However, projections made by Mexican authorities indicate that at least 1.8 million people have suffered from the disease in the North American country and that, at present, there are 111,884 active cases, according to the local newspaper ‘El Universal’ .

One of these cases is that of Cardinal Emeritus Norberto Rivera who is admitted.

The hospital situation continues to worsen as beds are occupied and there are already six states in the country whose hospital occupancy is above 70 percent.

Mexico City is the state with the highest occupancy with 88 percent of its general beds occupied and 87 percent of its intensive therapy beds.
