China detects 9 new cases of covid, all from abroad

Shanghai (China), Apr 24 (EFE) .- The National Health Commission of China reported today the detection, this Friday, of 9 new cases of covid in the country, all of them “imported.”

These infections detected in travelers from abroad were registered in Shanghai (east, 3), Jiangsu (east, 1), Guangzhou (southeast, 1), Chongqing (center, 1), Sichuan (center, 1), Yunnan (south, 1) and Shaanxi (north, 1).
In addition, the health authorities also reported today the detection of 12 new asymptomatic infections (all of them, “imported”), although Beijing does not include them as confirmed cases unless they manifest symptoms.

The total of this type of infections under observation is 324, of which 313 come from other territories.
Likewise, the National Health Commission detailed that, until last local midnight (16:00 GMT on Friday), 10 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming covid-19.

Thus, the total number of active infected in mainland China stood at 305, 4 of them serious.
The institution pointed out that, since the beginning of the pandemic, 90,575 people have been infected in the country, among whom 85,634 have managed to heal and 4,636 have died.

To date, 1,005,152 close contacts with infected people have been followed up, of which 10,022 continue to be observed.
Meanwhile, the semi-autonomous region of Hong Kong has so far detected 11,728 cases with 209 deaths.
