The Chinese National Health Commission announced today the detection of 138 new positives for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Monday, 59 of them due to local contagion.

Local positives were recorded in Inner Mongolia (north, 20), Jiangsu (east, 12), Liaoning (northeast, 6), Sichuan (center, 5), Yunnan (south, 5), four in the closed circuit of the Games Paralympics in Beijing 2022, Hubei (center, 4) and Canton (southeast, 3).

The remaining 79 cases were found among travelers from abroad in Shanghai (east, 32), Guangzhou (southeast, 22), Fujian (southeast, 10), Beijing (4), Sichuan (center, 3), Gansu (center, 3 ), Zhejiang (east, 2), Anhui (east, 2), and Yunnan (1).

Health authorities also reported today the detection of 46 asymptomatic cases, six due to local contagion, although Beijing does not count them as confirmed cases unless they show symptoms.

The total of this type of infections under observation is 681, of which 568 come from other territories.

The National Health Commission also detailed that, until last local midnight (4:00 p.m. GMT on Monday), 53 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming covid.

The total number of active infections in mainland China amounts to 1,809, twelve of whom are serious.

According to the institution’s accounts, since the start of the pandemic, 107,989 people have been infected in the country, among whom 101,544 have managed to heal and 4,636 have died.

To date, medical follow-up has been carried out on 1,586,886 close contacts with those infected, of which 39,412 are still under observation.
