The season of Lent has officially begun, and with it a few carnivals which are carried out in different States and in some mayors of Mexico. During these events, participants can join in the celebration by participating in recreational and cultural activities.

In this 2023 at least 10 demarcations of the capital will have carnivals which can be attended free. Some have already started and others are about to start. The dates and locations are as follows:

Gustavo A. Madero

On the town hall esplanade, located in the Martín Carrera district, the carnival of Villa del March 4 to 7. There will be sonideros and other types of activities.

The people of San Juan de Aragón will perform the parade of Huehuenches y Viejas, which will dance to the rhythm of Samuel González and his group Carnavalera. It will be held from February 19 to 21 and February 26 in the demarcation.

iztapalapa

In the town hall located to the east of the capital, eight different carnivalsso the authorities will apply DRY law. The measure began on February 18 in some colonies, in order to avoid possible conflicts. The festivities are as follows:

– Carnival of Santa Martha Acatitla March 26: the neighborhoods where the measure will be applied for dances and parties are Santa Martha Acatitla, El Edén, 1st Ampliación Santiago, Acahualtepec, Paraje, Zacatepec, Unidad Habitacional Ermita, Zaragoza 1, Pueblo Sebastián Tecoloxtitlán, Ampliación and Santa Martha acatitla

– Carnival of Santa María Aztahuacan from February 24 to 27 and March 26: the settlements concerned will be Santa Maria Aztahuacan, Xalpa II, Citlalli, Santa Maria Azlahuacan Housing Unit, Ejido Santa Maria Aztahuacan I, Ejido Santa Maria Aztahuacan II and Monte Alban, Zacatepec Destination.

– Carnival of the 8 districtFebruary 26 and 27 and March 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 26: the neighborhoods where the prohibition law will be in force are Barrio San Miguel, Barrio San Pedro, Barrio San Pablo, Barrio San Lucas, Barrio San Ignacio, La Asunción Neighborhood, Santa Bárbara I Neighborhood, Santa Bárbara II Neighborhood, San José Neighborhood, Guadalupe del Moral Progresista, First Section Reform Laws. San Miguel Expansion, San Antonio Farms, Santa Isabel Industrial, Ricardo Flores Magón Expansion, Ricardo Flores Magón, El Manto, El Molino and El Santuario.

– Carnival of Santa Cruz Meyehualco from March 3 to 6: the neighborhoods concerned are Santa Cruz Meyehualco, Political Reform II, Lomas de Santa Cruz Meyehualco, Quetzalcóatl I Urban Development, Las Peñas, Las Peñas II, Santa Cruz Meyehualco Housing Unit.

– Carnival of San Sebastian TecoloxtitlanMarch 10-13: Neighborhoods with prohibition law on these days are Sebastián Tecoloxtitlán, El Edén, Ampliación Santa Martha Acatitla sur, Paraje Zacatepec, Ejido Santa María Aztahuacán, Pueblo de Santa Martha Acatitla.

– Carnival of San Andrés Tomatlán March 12, 19 and 26: the neighborhoods concerned will be San Andrés Tomatlán and Santa María Tomatlán.

– Santiago Acahualtepec Carnival From March 17 to 20: the neighborhoods with prohibition law will be Santiago Acahualtepec, First Expansion Santiago Acahualtepec, Second Expansion of Santiago Acahualtepec, Miguel de la Madrid, Lomas de Zaragoza, Hermitage Zaragoza I Housing Unit, Ixtlahuacan, Pueblo de Santa Martha Acatitla .

– Carnival of San Lorenzo Tezonco April 9, 16, 23 and 30: the affected neighborhoods are San Lorenzo Tezonco, Lomas de San Lorenzo I, El Rosario, Barrio San Lorenzo Tezonco, Barrio Guadalupe, UH Mirasoles, Lomas de San Lorenzo II.

Tlahuac

In the mentioned mayor’s office, 7 cities will perform parades of comparsas every Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the month of March. All these days there will be a prohibition law and activities may vary slightly from day to day. To consult the detailed agenda, you can consult this link.

In the Peñón de los Baños there will be the traditional carnival carried out by the different neighborhoods that make up the aforementioned colony. They will parade from 19 to February 22 and 26.

There will also be carnival in the town halls Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztacalco, Milpa Alta, Cuauhtémoc and Xochimilco.
