BERLIN (AP) — A German union on Friday called a strike at seven airports across the country to demand wage increases above inflation.
The one-day shutdown of civil aviation security personnel and ground crews would affect airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund, Hannover and Bremen.
Frankfurt is Germany’s largest airport and one of the largest hubs for international flights. The strike in Munich could affect the annual security conference which takes place in the city from Friday to Sunday.
The union is demanding a wage increase of 10.5% or at least 500 euros ($536) to counter high inflation.
