NEW YORK (AP) — Mikal Bridges had a career-high 45 points, including 15 in a row as Brooklyn extended its lead in a game that remained tight for 3½ quarters before the Nets won 116 on Wednesday evening. the Miami Heat.

It was the last game for both teams before the all-star break.

In their third meeting since arriving from Phoenix in the Kevin Durant trade, Bridges enjoyed an electrifying streak that could well have been sealed by the star he was traded for.

The Nets trailed just 90-89 before Bridges got to work with a series of slam dunks, 3-pointers and jump balls in three minutes.

This extended the lead to nine points. And when another Nets player scored, it was Cam Johnson, also a recent arrival, whose 3-pointer made it 108-96.

Bridges scored 17 points in the final quarter to surpass his previous record of 34. He was 17 of 24 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range and his 7 free throws. He completed his performance with eight rebounds and five assists.
