Mexico City, February 28. A new cold front will enter this Wednesday from northwestern Mexico, which will cause heavy rains in some Mexican entities, a drop in temperature in the early hours and possible sleet and snowfall in mountainous areas.

According to the Mexican government’s National Meteorological Service (SMN), this phenomenon will interact with a polar trough and polar and subtropical jet streams, causing heavy rains in Baja California and Sonora, showers in Chihuahua and isolated rains in Baja. – Southern California.

In addition, it predicted the “drop in daytime temperature and possible snowfall or sleet in the mountainous areas of said entities”.

The SMN, dependent on the National Water Commission (Conagua) of Mexico, also forecasts winds with gusts of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour and dust storms in Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango and Sonora and 80 at 100 kilometers per hour in Coahuila.

The Mexican meteorological authority projected waves between 3 and 5 meters high on the west coast of Baja California, and 1 to 3 meters on the west coast of Baja California Sur.

“Wind gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and dust storms are expected to continue in Baja California Sur, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, as well as 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in Chiapas, Campeche, Nuevo León, Oaxaca , Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Yucatán,” the public body added.

For this Wednesday morning, the Weather Service forecast minimum temperatures between -10 and -5 degrees Celsius with frost in the mountains of Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango and Sonora.

Meanwhile, for the mountains of Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz, he estimated temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees Celsius with possible frosts.

On the other hand, he indicated that an anticyclonic system in the middle levels of the atmosphere would maintain “stable weather and very warm temperatures in much of the country”.

In this sense, it advanced maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in the regions of Hidalgo, Guerrero, Morelos, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.

Maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius were predicted for Campeche, Chiapas, Coahuila, Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nuevo Leon, Puebla, Queretaro, Tabasco and Yucatan.

In addition, highs of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius in Aguascalientes, Durango, southwestern Mexico, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa and Zacatecas. EFE
