Podoliak directly pointed out Raiffeisen Bankthe Russian subsidiary of the Austrian bank Raiffeisen banking group; the German multinational Metro; or the French group Auchandepending on the agency inquire.

“By paying taxes to Russia, they are in fact financing the war as such (…). And it looks, to say the least, a little strange. So, of course, there are a lot more companies that have to impose sanctions,” Podoliak said.

In this sense, the main adviser to the Ukrainian presidency regretted that there are “certain forces” in Europe which “after all” would like “Russia to remain a partner in the market”.

Podoliak pointed out that in order to end the war in Ukraine, it is necessary not only to supply the country with weapons, but also to limit economic contributions to Russia as much as possible, thereby avoiding taxes.

It’s obvious. You cannot give arms to Ukraine with one hand and support the financing of the Russian army through tax systems with the other. We need to talk about it directly, clearly name the companies that pay taxes in Russia and on which sanctions should be imposed,” he said.
