At least six people died and several were injured after a gunman opened fire on a center for Jehovah’s Witnesses in the district of Groß Borstel in Hamburg, Germany.

The attackers fledas reported by the media focus onlinewho added that emergency services and medics were on the scene.

The Hamburg police reported via Twitter that “there is currently a major police operation in Alsterdorf”.

“According to the first results, a shot was fired in a church in Deelböge street in the GroßBorstel district. Several people were seriously injured, some even fatally. We are on the spot with a large contingent of forces,” added the local police.

Hamburg’s interior authority also spoke of a church as the crime scene. The Nina warning app reported: “Today around 9 p.m. one or more perpetrators shot people in a church.

“Until there is no reliable information about the motive for the crimewrote the police on Twitter. “We ask that you do not share dangerous assumptions and/or spread rumours.”

Residents of the area in question received a warning via Cell Broadcast not to leave their homes.

Various media, such as Wetterau’s diary and the general newspaperreport that the crime scene is a center for Jehovah’s Witnesses.
