Argentina has organized a trade mission to the city of Dhaka with a group of 20 businessmen to increase exports to Bangladesh, which has a market of 170 million people, Argentine ministry sources reported on Sunday. Foreign Affairs.
According to an official statement, Minister Santiago Cafiero arrived today in the South Asian nation with the intention of leading diplomatic meetings that will allow Argentina to expand the sale of its agri-food products.
“About 20 businessmen from different productive sectors have come, who tomorrow (next Monday) will have more than 300 very important business meetings,” said Undersecretary for Trade and Investment Promotion Guillermo Merediz in the document.
Official data indicates that in 2022 bilateral trade with Bangladesh was 765 million dollars and Argentine exports reached 742.9 million, while imports from this country totaled 22.1 million dollars, in plus a trade surplus was recorded for Argentina of $720.8 million.
“Cafiero launched in December last year a program of more than 305 commercial actions, fairs and missions, which allow Argentina to participate in all continents”, added Merediz.
Another notable event will be the opening of the Argentinian Embassy in Bangladesh next Monday, partly prompted by Bangladeshi society’s support of the Argentinian soccer team during the World Cup in Qatar.
In this sense, the principal member and international representative of the River Plate club, Sebastián Pérez Escobar, underlined: “We are very happy to be here because of everything that has been seen during the World Cup, on behalf of the institution of River Plate, we have the idea of being able to settle here thanks to our academies”.
They hope to be able to train players from the South Asian country in Argentina. “We want to convey the River ethos in every place we can access,” Escobar added.
