JNE declares unfounded stain against APRA registration Photo: Andina

After a complaint against the re-recording of Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (ARPA), the National Election Jury (ETC) declared the claim unfounded at first instance. This was filed by the former Minister of Pedro Castillo, Luis Barranzuelaand the lawyer for Evo Morales, Raul Noblecilla.

“Declares unfounded the complaint filed by citizens Raúl Noblecilla Olaechea and Luis Roberto Barranzuela Vite dated February 7, 2023, against the application for registration of the political party ‘Peruvian Aprist Party'”, reads the resolution.

In this sense, it was ordered that the registration process should continue accordingly. Likewise, the parties concerned are notified. The document bears the signature of the Director of the Register of Political Organizations (ROP), Ferdinand Rodríguez.

However, it wouldn’t all end there, as he was rejected in the first place. When an appeal is filed, it is resolved by the JNE plenary.

For lawyer Noblecilla, it was a “contribution to democratic health”, for which he hoped that the JNE would “fulfill its work and its duty”. In the document presented to the entity, they indicated that the party did not meet certain mandatory requirements.

The former interior minister and lawyer for former president Morales clarified that he “did not comply with the requirements of article 9” of the law on political formations. This is because they claimed he had no measures to eradicate harassment against women in politics.

Meanwhile, former APRA Congressman, Jorge del Castillo, He mentioned that these actions are motivated by “fear” of the party. He also interviewed those who featured him. “They are afraid of APRA,” he told Canal N.

On the other hand, he also indicated that it is “essential” for the political formation to participate in the next electoral contests, because it has “the experience”.

“APRA is practically in a position to say ‘calm down comrades, this week we hope the resolution will come out.’ I don’t see why it should take longer. Whether they go ahead or not (elections), we will still have registrations and the Aprista Party will be able to participate. I have no doubts,” he confided in a conversation with RPP Noticias.

Hearing of the first instance decision of the JNE, he affirmed that they would continue “to win as we have done for 90 years in the streets, the squares, the unions and the universities”.

To date, 16 parties are currently registered; that is, during this period three other political organizations were approved for membership. Among them are the Popular Agricultural Front FIA of Peru (Frepap) and the PRIN political party.
