The website of Transport for London (TfL), in charge of the British capital’s underground, shows that there is no operational service on any of the lines.

The drivers, belonging to the trade union of the sector Insult and at the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT), went on strike to protest because the network economy measures may cause a reduction in pensions and working conditions.

In addition to the metro drivers’ protest, the Newly graduated doctors and residents end their 72-hour strike on Wednesday in the demand for job improvements, while in England teachers find themselves unemployed, also for the same reasons.

Likewise, some 150,000 civil servants who work in more than 100 ministries are going on strike today to demand a pay rise.

In recent months, the UK has experienced a wave of strikes from different sectors -like the nurses union, boarding school doctors, paramedics, university professors or postal workers- to demand salary improvements due to the rising cost of living, since year-over-year inflation other exceeds the ten%.

The country’s accumulated debt stood at the end of last December at £2.5 trillion ($3.02 trillion)which equals 99.5% GDP, according to the latest official data.
