The conservative party of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, suffered extensive defeats in two regional elections this Sunday, according to exit polls.
In Baden-Wuerttemberg, the center-right CDU of Merkel It only achieved 23 percent of the vote in the regional election won – as in 2016 – by the Vede Party with 31%, according to the poll. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the CDU was second with 25 percent of votes away from the Social Democrat SPD with 33%.
