San Juan, 23 Feb. A 14-year-old boy from the state of Louisiana (United States) died of unknown causes while walking on a path in the rainforest of El Yunque in Río Grande, a municipality in the northeast of Puerto Rico. , police reported Thursday.

A call to the Rio Grande Police District alerted to a minor, identified as Nael Lugo Villa, with health issues in the village of La Coca in the forest reserve, authorities said in the memo.

When paramedics arrived on the scene to provide first aid to the teenager, they decided to transport him to hospital, where doctor Alexander Figueroa certified the absence of vital signs.

The victim showed no visible signs of abuse, so an autopsy by the Institute of Forensic Sciences will determine the cause of death.

Agent Librado de Jesús, attached to the district of Río Grande, together with prosecutor Lenabel Alvarado de Gracia, took charge of the corresponding investigation. ECE
