Two soldiers killed in Zacatecas, Fresnillo, after an overthrow (special)

During Friday night, two soldiers of the mexican armylost their lives after their vehicle overturned in the town of fresnillo, zacatecaswho also left four other elements injured.

The events, according to local media, occurred when members of the armed forces were carrying out surveillance rounds in Fresnillo as part of the new state security strategy.

It was during this tour that they were victims of an attack by armed people belonging to an organized criminal group in the state between Pavorreales and Garzas streets. The military elements reportedly succeeded in repelling the attack, so they undertook a pursuit to find those responsible.

However, elements of the Ministry of National Defense (sedena), near the Las Aves and Del Valle neighborhoods, lost control of the vehicle they were traveling in, causing it to overturn. Other members of the company as well as state forces attended the scene.

The investigative police have arrived (PDI) and the Metropolitan Police as well as the ambulances of the Zacatecas Medical Emergency Network and the State and Municipal Civil Protection Coordinations.

The soldiers, six in total according to initial reports, were checked and taken to a hospital in Fresnillo where two of them lost their lives while receiving medical treatment.

Despite the fact that an operation was deployed to find the alleged perpetrators, no arrests were reported by the authorities, as they managed to escape to an unknown destination.

On Saturday afternoon, the Spokesperson for the State Table for the Consolidation of Peaceannounced that the governments of Mexico and the state of Zacatecas had agreed to increase the number of National Guard troops in this entity, thus announcing the arrival of more than 600 National Guardsmen.

“In accordance with said agreement, more than 600 soldiers arrived this week in Zacatecas to reinforce surveillance and containment tasks in the regions considered to have the highest criminal incidence.”

Temporarily, the elements that come to reinforce security, have been housed in the facilities of the Sports Center of Zacatecas so that for 30 days it will be the point of concentration for part of the 600 newly incorporated elements.

Regarding this fact, they assured that they were aware of the concern that the presence of the agents aroused among a group of parents from some educational centers near this area. However, they reiterated that these actions are the result of the commitment of state authorities to provide better security conditions.

It should be noted that on Friday, February 24, the Governor of the State, David Monreal Ávila, in the face of increasing violence in his entity, presented his new State strategy for the construction of peace, prevention and citizen coexistencewhich includes three goals and 10 strategies to address the causes of violence:

– Address the causes and risk factors that trigger violence and crime in society through building a collaborative society that promotes social cohesion by creating environments conducive to coexistence.

– Transition towards an inclusive and equitable society, linking civil society to security and crime prevention institutions and promoting the collaboration of citizens and social actors.

– Disseminate care and action protocols in the face of violence against women, disseminate statistical information on the incidence of crime and victimization from a gender perspective, the care and monitoring of aggressors , among others.
