Relatives of Lorena assured that the young woman had filed a complaint against her ex-partner in front of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX); however, they claimed that the authorities had failed to take the necessary measures to protect their integrity.

Lorena was a graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), which is why, before her femicide, the community of the university institution united to carry out various protest activities within school facilities. .

The femicide of the UNAM student is not the only one to have sparked criticism against the authorities. last January 31 Liliana and Alondra, who were mother and daughterwere murdered at the Public Ministry (deputy) of Poncitlan, Jalisco when they went to present a domestic violence complaint.

The women were attacked by Gerardo “Z”, who was Alondra’s partner. Prosecutor Luis Joaquín Méndez Ruiz mentioned about the victims that: “Their intention was to file a complaint.
