The five youths who were killed by elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) in the early hours of February 26 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, are members of the Northeast Cartel.

Amid outrage over the murder of youths in the north of the country, new information could change the direction of investigations by federal authorities, this after it was reported that the group of people shot dead by members of the Mexican army, they belong to a criminal group in the region.

According to Azteca Noticias, who had access to intelligence reports, the youths belonged to the Northeast Cartel. “Intelligence reports (…) reveal that the five youths who died in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, allegedly at the hands of elements of the Mexican army belonged to the Northeast Cartel or had criminal records.”
