Residents of the Daniel Alcides Carrión human settlement experienced moments of panic, located a few meters from the Sarita Colonia prison, in the callao, in the early hours of Friday, March 10, as a fire threatened to destroy their homes. As a result of the incident, six houses made of prefabricated and rustic materials were left in rubble.

“This is a fire that affected six houses made of rustic and precarious materials, which practically consumed the entire back of these houses. The Callao command responded with 6 firefighter units and a water tank unit (…) About 50 firefighters worked in this emergency and there were no injuries of any kind”, he said. he said in an interview with RPP.
Neighbors in the area point out that the fire was caused by an artifact called a “spiral”, used to scare away insects and mosquitoes. This one, according to his version, stayed on all night, so it overheated and caused a short circuit.
The general firefighters specify that the six houses which were destroyed are uninhabitable in the short and medium term.
“Certainly, these houses should not be inhabited until they are cleaned, the debris has been removed and the water has been dried. It is a good action that residents have taken to prioritize the evacuation of their property. The gas canisters were also evacuated, which ensured that there was no explosion,” said Brigadier Gallardo.
According to statistics from the General Fire Department, among the most frequent accidents are fires, after medical emergencies and road accidents. So much so that so far in 2023 they have witnessed more than 1,400 fires in Lima, Callao and Ica.
