• Twitter will soon allow content creators to be paid tips with bitcoin.
  • Of course, it is not known when the function will be available or which countries will be able to enjoy this feature when it comes out.

Last May , Tip Jar was announced , a function that allows you to tip your favorite Twitter creators and now this functionality is updated in a big way: soon you will be able to pay with Bitcoin .

The information comes from the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi who showed a screenshot in which you can see the option that allows the beneficiaries to receive the reward in cryptocurrencies .

Shortly thereafter, Twitter confirmed this through a tweet from Kayvon Beykpour, Periscope co-founder and Twitter product leader.

At the moment everything is up in the air: it is not known when the function will be available or which countries will be able to enjoy this feature when it comes out, but what must be noted is that it is the first formal integration between Twitter and Bitcoin .

What is known is that Twitter will use Strike and the Lighting network and, of course, users who want to take advantage of this feature will have to connect their account with a cryptocurrency wallet.

The arrival of this option on the social network is not a surprise. Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter is a great proponent of Bitcoin and already in July made clear his hope that the digital currency could bring world peace .

Little by little Twitter is launching new functions to the social network such as the possibility of hiding tweets after a certain period of time or the recent super follow , which in exchange for a subscription you can have access to exclusive content from your favorite accounts.

In this sense, it is still too early to talk about the possibility that it is also possible to pay with bitcoins in this modality – at the moment it is only on iOS and for a limited group in the US – but seeing the importance that Twitter is giving to the cryptocurrencies, the option ends up arriving in the future.
