His name is Ryan Lowry, he is 19 years old and he is the latest sensation of LinkedIn. Three weeks ago, this young man from Leesburg (United States) made the decision to write a brave letter in this social network for your future boss. Nobody around him thought he was capable of doing something like that. In fact, his father, Rob, opened an account for him to start making professional contacts within the sector that interested him the most. The effect has been thunderous: seven million impressions, 6,000 comments and dozens of job offers.
Ryan was diagnosed with autism when he was just 18 months old. Since then, communication and social relationships have been two of the weaknesses that he has had to face. Therefore, this letter has generated such an impact.
“Have autism. I also have a great sense of humor, I have a gift for mathematics. I am very good with technology and I learn very quickly. I am interested in a job in animation or systems. I am aware that someone like you can give me a chance, I don’t learn like other people. I will need a mentor to teach me, but I am a quick learner. Once they explain it to me, I have it. I promise that if you hire me and teach me, you will be glad you did ”, the young man writes in his post, where other people with autism have also wanted to share their cases.
So far, Ryan has received dozens of offers. Some of which come from companies of the stature of Microsoft O Amazon. In the absence of knowing his current situation, he has begun to train in animation and software to be able to fulfill his dream. “Their deficits are social and communicative. But once through that fog, he is the most brilliant person I have ever met, ”explained his father Rob in The Washington Post.
