The iPhone 14 Pro could have a 48 MP sensor, an important development for Apple.
The iPhone from Apple are recognized for their camera module. And although they are not necessarily the best on the market, they produce very good quality shots and the Cupertino company has been able to stay on top year after year, tweaking its technologies and adding very welcome features here and there.
That being said, this year 2022 could be the year of significant changes in this segment in the iPhone 14 Pro.
The iPhone 14 Pro could have a 48 MP sensor
If the latest rumors are to be believed, it seems that on the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple has decided to make a noticeable improvement. Thus, instead of the 12 MP sensor currently integrated in the iPhone 13, the Apple brand could switch to a 48 MP sensor.
The reports do not specify whether it is only the main sensor or not, but the device could therefore have at least a 48 MP sensor.
And this could be very interesting for iPhone users who have to “make do”, so to speak, with a 12 MP sensor when Android smartphone manufacturers have long since moved to 48 MP or even more.
That being said, it should be noted that, as often, the number of megapixels is not everything. It’s more of a marketing figure, but there is a very legitimate reason to use a sensor with more megapixels.
An important development for Apple
Having more megapixels allows the camera to capture more detail, detail that would otherwise be lost when zooming in on photos or printing them. Having more megapixels gives users the ability to crop their shots or print them in larger formats without losing too much detail.
The Cupertino company has used a 12 MP sensor since the iPhone 6s Plus, although it has made many improvements to other aspects of its camera module, especially at the software level, over the generations.
