New Microsoft Surface Laptop 5: Everything We know So far

Microsoft took advantage of its annual hardware event to introduce the next generation of its most popular laptop. The Surface Laptop 5 is here, and while it doesn’t represent a significant jump from the previous model, the computer embraces more recent components to get ready.

In relation to its design, those of Redmond have preferred not to touch anything. After all, its slim chassis has nothing to envy to notebooks from other manufacturers. Also, versions with 13.5 or 15-inch touch screen.

However, if you really want to stand out from the previous generation, you can use the new color: Siege. The rest of the well-known tones continue to be available on the Surface Laptop 5.

Thus, it is inside where its main innovations are found. First of all, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 embraces the 12th generation Intel Core processors. That is, the Alder Lake.

Perhaps its incorporation does not cause so much illusion, especially since the semiconductor company has already made its new Raptor Lake processors official – although the variants for laptops have not yet seen the light.

Microsoft says the new chips will allow the Surface Laptop 5 to deliver superior performance, especially for more demanding tasks. For example: video games, creative or professional activities.

Perhaps at this moment you are thinking that the increase in performance will have a negative impact on autonomy. However, those of Redmond assure that the battery of the Surface Laptop 5 can be extended for up to 17 hours. Obviously, a lot will depend on the activities you do to reach that figure.

Microsoft highlights that the Surface Laptop 5 can connect to an external monitor through the Thunderbolt USB-C. This same connector, in fact, can charge the laptop. In the same way, they highlight the possibilities of its camera and microphones, so essential in the current times in which remote work has become an everyday thing:

“Enhanced camera experiences, powered by new interactive features in Windows 11, automatically adjust for lighting conditions, skin tones, and subtle changes in head and face position. Be heard loud and clear on calls with two far-field studio microphones.”

Finally, the Surface Laptop 5 boasts Dolby Atmos support. With this proposal, Microsoft hopes to provide you with an immersive experience when enjoying movies and series. Obviously, streaming video services must also be compatible with such technology.
