2022 is the year of the debut of Android 13 “Tiramisù” and among the first producers to adopt them Xiaomi will be at the forefront , in addition to several Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Realme and vivo. We witnessed the official debut by Google, preceded by the first phase of beta testing, and between 2022 and 2023 the release of the stable update will materialize by the different players in the Android market. But waiting to officially know the MIUI 14 update , we can already draw a list of models that should be updated based on the update policy that Xiaomi usually has.
Last updated: December 2022
PS : For the moment, Xiaomi has given way to the release of the update to Android 13 but still based on MIUI 13.2. For the moment, therefore, the roadmap that you find below is based on Android 13 with MIUI 13, while for MIUI 14 we will still have to wait.
Here are Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones will update to MIUI 14 and Android 13
What’s new in Android 13
Premise: Android 12 has been one of the most important major updates released by Google in recent years, ergo there are no major changes with Android 13. Let’s talk about an update that corrects and improves what was already seen with the previous version, with some minor additions but not necessarily for this reason little I count. Especially from a graphical point of view, Android 13 does not change much compared to Android 12, even if Xiaomi’s MIUI will play a huge role in this. The system has been enriched by Material you , now with the possibility of choosing between various color tones.
Android 13 introduces native support for Bluetooth LE Audio and the ability to set different languages for specific apps, rather than letting the system language apply to all of them. Additionally, the user can choose whether or not to allow an app to send notifications on first launch, instead of having to intervene later.
In terms of privacy, among the new features of Android 13 there is a greater conservation of the gallery. Instead of giving an app permission to access all the photos and videos in memory, the Photo Picker API will only give it access to the files we select.
Will Android 13 arrive with MIUI 14?
Whenever we talk about Xiaomi and its updates, we must distinguish between Android updates and MIUI updates. Like all Chinese companies, Xiaomi tends to prioritize updates to its proprietary interface. However, it is also true that usually all major MIUI updates correspond to Android ones, as happened between MIUI 13 and Android 12. So it is reasonable to expect that with the Android 13 update you will also get to the next version of MIUI, which we will call for convenience MIUI 14 (name not yet confirmed).
Which models will be updated
We come to the highlight of this article: which Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones will receive the update to Android 14? I will keep it in mind: the list you are about to read is not official but is based solely on the update policy carried out by Xiaomi. For now, therefore, you will only find the models for which it is more or less obvious that the update to Android 13 (and MIUI 14) will arrive. Obviously we will continue to update it, to be able to add (or remove) models excluded from the list for the moment but that Xiaomi may decide to update.
