Microsoft Corp has stopped making all Xbox One consoles to focus on producing its next generation of consoles, The Verge reported Thursday, citing a senior executive at the video game division.

According to The Verge, Microsoft originally discontinued its Xbox One X and digital Xbox One S before the Xbox Series X launched in 2020.

The software giant had released two models of its Xbox Series X in November 2020, seven years after the previous version debuted, to take advantage of a pandemic-driven boom in consumer spending on video games.

However, various industries around the world are facing an unprecedented shortage of semiconductor microchips , which has caused a delay in the delivery of several products.

In November, the Nikkei business daily reported that Nintendo Co will make 20% fewer Switch video game consoles than expected due to supply shortages.
