An ultra-fast screen for eSports
To meet the growing demand for progress of display and live broadcast of important and large-scale events, the Chinese BOE Technology, the world’s number one flat panel display, has developed a 27-inch PC monitor offering full high definition (FHD) and an impressive 500Hz display.
The main competitor of Samsung Display and LG Display is the first manufacturer to develop a refresh rate that high for a monitor intended for home or industrial use. The latter also has an 8-lane eDP connection, a response time of 1 ms and support for an accurate 8-bit color gamut.

The world’s fastest screen, but no 4K on the horizon
BOE Technology claims to have made “significant breakthroughs in oxide-based semiconductor technology” and “mass production of copper interconnect structures”, allowing this still-stage monitor to from prototype to become a reality. For greater clarity, the screen manufacturer specifies that it has overcome several problems, such as the ease of diffusion and oxidation of the copper.
However, higher refresh rate monitors have a downside as the refresh rate increases. The 27-inch monitor has a maximum resolution of 1080p, which is insufficient for a screen of this size. But even today’s best 360Hz monitor has a lower FHD resolution. However, companies are slowly following suit and releasing high refresh rate monitors with impressive resolutions.
