Apple could unveil a new iPhone SE in the spring. 5G would be there.
Apple has for a few years had a well-oiled mechanism when it comes to the launches of its new devices. The iPhone, for example, follow a very precise rhythm. From time to time, however, the Cupertino company creates a little surprise by integrating here and there a little or not expected model. Next spring, the apple brand could unveil an iPhone SE 5G.

The American giant could indeed take advantage of its now usual spring event to update its most affordable smartphone. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, in his latest newsletter, Apple could introduce a third generation iPhone SE this spring, with a virtual presentation that would “likely” occur in March or April.
And as an echo to previous rumors, Mark Gurman understands that this new iPhone SE would still retain a design very close to that of the iPhone 8, but with a 5G compatible chip and a new processor – possibly the same A15 chip as the ‘iPhone 13, if Apple’s habit of picking up the high-end chip from the previous year is any indication.
5G would be there
The American journalist makes no mention of other changes. In any case, it would not be surprising to see Apple increase the storage to 128 GB or integrate better photo sensors – again, borrowed from the iPhone 8 – but none of this can be guaranteed as the Cupertino company is still focusing on the final invoice for its iPhone SE.
A bigger battery might be needed to offset 5G’s energy needs, however.
If this information is true, this new iPhone SE would in any case be somewhat disappointing for those looking for a device with an almost borderless design. There, it would still have to do with a relatively small screen, thick edges and a fingerprint scanner in a big home button. As said, ultimately, it’s the final price that counts with the iPhone SE.
The current model, offered at the public price of 489 €, allows Apple to reach a target of customers who otherwise could not afford an iPhone. The Cupertino company has every interest in not increasing this price, if only a little bit, if it does not want to reduce this target.
